Jim Tickemyer
Jim Tickemyer, Treasurer, Director of Division 3, brings decades of construction expertise, public agency leadership, and deep community roots to his role as Treasurer of the SGPWA Board of Directors.
A Pass area resident since 1979, Treasurer Tickemyer has lived, worked, and raised his family in Beaumont and the surrounding communities for more than four decades. He takes pride in helping protect the community’s most precious resource: water.
Treasurer Tickemyer’s professional background complements SGPWA’s mission. He spent 30 years as a self-employed steel contractor, managing projects from start to finish. He later transitioned into public service, serving eight years on the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Parks District Board and going on to become Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services for the City of San Bernardino. Today, he works in construction consulting, specializing in capital improvement and maintenance projects for public agencies. His experience delivering complex projects from cradle to grave and navigating public agency procurement gives him a strong foundation in financial oversight and long-term infrastructure planning.
Treasurer Tickemyer is driven by the Board’s reputation throughout California’s water community and its willingness to support smaller local agencies through innovative programs such as gap funding. He views this collaborative approach as a powerful example of regional leadership.
A longtime coach, including 11 years as head coach of Beaumont High School’s varsity softball team, Treasurer Tickemyer believes in teamwork, accountability, and putting in the work required to achieve long-term success. He credits youth sports with helping shape strong work ethics and character, lessons he carries into public service today.
Looking ahead, Treasurer Tickemyer is especially excited about SGPWA’s involvement in the Sites Reservoir Project, recognizing its potential to strengthen statewide water sustainability while securing the Pass area’s future.
For Treasurer Tickemyer, serving on the Board is both a professional responsibility and a personal commitment. Having watched the region grow and evolve over decades, he sees safeguarding water resources as essential to sustaining families, businesses, and future generations in the Pass area.
