This year marks the 65th anniversary of the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency, the Beaumont-based state water contractor that supplies imported water from Northern California for water agencies across the pass.
Imported water is needed, both to protect the integrity of local groundwater basins and to supply local water agencies.
“Cities across the pass couldn’t grow without imported water,” said Pass Agency General Manager Lance Eckhart. “In fact, there isn’t enough groundwater to support all of the economic development the Pass Area communities have experienced over the past few decades. That’s why the Pass Agency exists.”
